What is Katie's Roar?

The new Student Support Services Center at HHS has just opened!  This space was designed to be welcoming, calming, and private for any students and parents/guardians seeking support or information.  It houses offices for the school counselors, school-based mental health provider, school social worker, and school psychologist intern.  It also provides space that can be used for small group counseling, outside agencies who might need to meet with kids, kids who have virtual appointments, and parent/guardian meetings.  The shared common space has a comfy seating/waiting area for students and parents, a table for students to meet with college admissions reps, space to share information about post-high school options and mental health resources, and a semi-private calming area for kids (and staff) who just need a break to compose themselves during a tough day.  The calming space has been filled with a variety of things kids can use to ease their stress and tough emotions - fidgets, weighted blanket, soft toys, art supplies, coloring books, sticker books, picture books, an iPad pre-loaded with calming and stress-relieving apps, puzzles, plants, natural light, comfy chairs, and more.
